Thank you for voting for me!

I’m Suzanne Griffith, and I am asking you to vote for me for Bremerton City Council, District #1.

First, I will be a voice for working people. I was born in Bremerton, where my parents both worked in Shop 31 at PSNS during WWII. I worked, got an education, and returned here in 1981. My daughter and granddaughter were also born here and live in town. For many years, I ran a local resume service, helping Shipyard personnel and others to gain promotions and new employment. I was known for getting jobs for people. I support unions and was a union member at Olympic College, where I worked as an English adjunct professor for six years.

Second, I will be vigilant in spending the city’s money. I will scrutinize budgets and contracts for problems that might arise down the road. I have worked as a grant writer and administrator and can use this experience to safeguard the people of Bremerton from fiscal irresponsibility. I’m familiar with local issues including housing. I won’t rubber-stamp a new housing development because it is called “affordable” until determining that normal people can actually afford it. I’m also aware of problems with access to safe and convenient health care and public transportation and will work with others to solve these problems.

Third, if elected I will be accessible. I will have a phone number, a Facebook page, and an email address where you can reach me. I will respond to all reasonable questions and comments. I will also send out a monthly email newsletter and hold quarterly neighborhood meetings. I need to know what you need and what you’re thinking. Keep in touch!
